The Poly 84757-01 / HP 85R17AA 3.5 mm EHS cord supports the Panasonic models listed below. It provides remote answer and end-call control from a compatible Poly wireless headset without a mechanical handset lifter.

Disconnect the Savi power adapter. Leave the Panasonic handset on its cradle. Do not disconnect the telephone line from the PBX unless instructed by your technician.
Connect the modular plug to the telephone interface jack on the Savi base. On the phone, remove the coiled handset cord from the handset jack, connect the interface cable to that jack, and then connect the handset cord to the interface cable’s junction box. Push each modular plug in until it clicks.
Connect one end of the Poly 84757-01 / HP 85R17AA cord to the jack on the Savi base marked with the handset-lifter or EHS symbol. Connect the other end to the Panasonic 3.5 mm EHS port. Do not force this plug into the phone’s separate 2.5 mm headset audio jack.
Begin with the configuration switch in position A. Set the microphone volume to 2 and the listening volume to 3. These are starting settings; adjust them during a test call if necessary.
Reconnect the Poly power adapter. Place the headset correctly in the charging cradle; the battery icon on the front of the base should flash green while charging. Charge the headset for at least 20 minutes before the first test. On the first day, leave it in the cradle until the indicator shows a full charge. Then move the headset power switch to the On position.
Call the Panasonic extension from another telephone. Confirm that the headset rings. Press the call button once to answer without lifting the handset. Speak and listen, then press the call button again to end the call.
| Action | Headset control | Expected result |
|---|---|---|
| Answer a call | Press Call once | The telephone goes off-hook and audio is sent to the headset. |
| End a call | Press Call once | The line is released and the telephone returns to standby. |
| Place a call | Press Call, then dial | You should hear a dial tone before dialing. |
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| No dial tone | Check the power, headset-to-base pairing and all modular connections. Begin with the configuration switch at A. If necessary, try positions A through G one at a time and keep the position that provides the clearest sound. |
| The phone rings, but the headset does not | Reconnect both ends of the 3.5 mm EHS cord. Confirm that it is Poly 84757-01 / HP 85R17AA and is connected to the EHS ports, not the Panasonic 2.5 mm audio jack. |
| The call button does not answer or end calls | Check the 3.5 mm EHS connection and restart the Savi base. If the problem continues, the system administrator may need to enable EHS or headset operation in the Panasonic PBX or telephone programming. |
| You hear the caller, but they cannot hear you | Position the microphone boom about two finger widths from the corner of your mouth. Increase the microphone volume underneath the base by one level. |
| Sound is too loud or the caller hears an echo | Reduce the microphone or listening volume underneath the base by one level. Change only one setting at a time, then test again. |
| Buzzing or interference | Move the Savi base away from the telephone and other electrical equipment. For testing, connect the power adapter directly to a wall outlet. |
The KX-DT543 has an integrated EHS connection compatible with Plantronics equipment. Its separate headset audio jack is 2.5 mm; the 3.5 mm accessory connection is used for electronic hook-switch control. Exact programming may vary depending on the Panasonic PBX and its configuration.
